Big Box retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, Costco with huge distribution and supply chains require vendors and sellers to integrate with their electronic data interchange (EDI) system. The electronic interchange of business information uses a standardized format to communicate with their "selling partners". EDI uses a "packet" of data for sales, tracking, ordering and truns it into a process which allows one company to send information to another company electronically rather than an individual order process thats slower and consumes more bandwidth.
